¡AY CHIHUAHUA!
A Mariachi Musical
Written & Directed by Miguel Orozco
Opens May 7
About the show
The Dance, Music, and Theatre Department and the Theatre and
Performance Studies program incollaboration with ÁNIMO Theatre Company, are proud
to present ¡AY CHIHUAHUA! at the Malibu Hall theater!
A bilingual, mariachi musical set in the 1960s, ¡AY CHIHUAHUA! offers a little bit
of everything for everyone - drama, romance, and a celebration of life. The show takes
the audience deep into the
heart of México and features three cultures - the Indigenous Rarárumi, the Mennonites,
and the Mestizos -as it explores the immigrant experience. Originally staged by ÁNIMO
in 2017 in Ventura County to sold-out audiences, this updated revival includes performances
by Mariachi Águilas and CSUCI’s Ballet Folklorico Club.
¡AY CHIHUAHUA! is made possible by generous funding from CSUCI Instructionally Related Activities.
