The close proximity of Channel Islands to the greater Los Angeles area provides important opportunities for students. Industry professionals, guest artists and teachers are often present on campus. Likewise, students can participate in the robust local performing arts community and branch into professional opportunities in the entertainment capital of the world. On-campus, students can take advantage of productions, showcases, and various performance ensembles available each semester.
On-Campus Opportunities
There are several on-going campus opportunities, such as Open Mic night every week in the SUB, production classes every fall ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary original works, the annual spring research based extravaganza Arts Under The Stars, several music ensembles, dance ensemble, and end of semester class showcases.

Off-Campus Opportunities
Ventura County has a robust performing arts scene. Several students have taken advantage of regional opportunities such as, local community theatre productions, regional equity theatre opportunities at the Rubicon and 5 Star Theatricals, Namba performing Arts space, and many more. Students in the University Chorus have the opportunity to collaborate with a professional orchestra in highly acclaimed annual performances. They also have the opportunity to give back to the community by collaborating with and performing for local service organizations.
